Distraction warning
Subaru DMS* recognises that at times the driver may be distracted, which is why a buzzer alert and visual display will warn the driver if their gaze continues to wander outside a set range.
Dozing or drowsiness warning
The DMS* uses near infrared LEDs and a camera to observe the driver’s eyes and recognise when their attention is waning or if they start to fall to sleep. An alert can warn them, and give a gentle reminder to refocus on the road ahead or take a break if necessary.
Facial recognition
The intelligent facial recognition system can identify up to five separate drivers and then automatically personalise the cabin to their preferences - adjusting a range of settings including the climate control and Multi-Information Display (MID) screen.
Safety SystemsSubaru Driver Monitoring System
Distractions can happen at any moment, just ask any parent. Forester’s revolutionary Driver Monitoring System* uses tech to keep you tuned in to the road. Driver Focus uses a camera to monitor the driver for signs of fatigue or distraction and warns them if it detects that the driver is not focused or keeping their eyes on the road ahead, for whatever reason. Forester's Driver Monitoring System* also features advanced temperature adjustment, allowing you to have complete control of the temperature through simple hand gestures. This amazing feature helps you stay focused on the journey ahead.
Safety SystemsSubaru Vision Assist
Subaru’s Vision Assist can give drivers a greater awareness of the world around them. Using EyeSight® Assist Monitor, lights are projected onto the lower windscreen to alert the driver when the various safety functions are engaged. Blind Spot Monitor uses rear sensors to make lane changes safer, by warning of vehicles detected in the blind spot. Meanwhile, Lane Change Assist can detect fast approaching vehicles from behind in the adjacent traffic lane and warn the driver of their presence. Rear Cross Traffic Alert can warn the driver that another car is approaching when reversing out of a parking space. Meanwhile, if the vehicle sensors detects an obstacle behind the vehicle while reversing, Reverse Automatic Braking* on selected variants can apply braking if the driver doesn’t react first.
Front View Monitor* on selected variants uses a grille mounted camera to capture images of the area in front of the vehicle to help avoid damage when parking. Side View Monitor* on selected variants uses a camera in the passenger door mirror to show the distance of the front passenger side of the vehicle from the kerb or a parked vehicle. Meanwhile, Adaptive Driving Beam* on selected variants automatically adjusts the headlight beam to prevent dazzling other detected nearby road users, while maintaining a high level of light and visibility.
Safety DesignSubaru Global Platform
An overwhelming feeling of protection is underpinned by Subaru Forester’s carefully engineered body structure and Subaru Global Platform (SGP), including the ring-shaped passenger safety cell. The ring-shaped passenger safety cell that cocoons occupants has been designed to absorb and direct the impact of a collision around the cabin, rather than through it. Meanwhile, the symmetrical layout of the All-Wheel Drive system and horizontally-opposed Boxer engine is designed to allow the engine to ‘submarine’ under the floor during a severe frontal collision – protecting the cabin’s occupants.
In addition, the chassis structure has been engineered to include crushable zones, absorbing collision energy to effectively protect passengers. While Subaru can’t control every variable on the road, the inclusion of seven SRS* airbags in Subaru Forester can help reduce the possibility of serious injury in the event of a serious accident.
